From 1982 to 1985,
Porsche enjoyed a virtual domination of world endurance races. The flagship of
the company, the Porsche 956, was developed to meet the regulations of the Group
C category. It was powered by a 2649cc six cylinder turbo engine with four
valves fer cylinder pumping out an impressive 620hp at 8200rpm, providing a top
speed in excess of 350km/h. The Porsche 956 was used by many private racing
teams with one such team being sponsored by Kenwood. This car raced at the 1984
